FOR BUYERS
At 9am on Saturday, we let the start line loose on the goods. First come, first served, you get dibs on whatever is there. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE ITEMS IN THE SWAP TO SHOP! Anyone can join in!
What will be there for sale?
A little bit of everything! We really don't know until stuff starts getting dropped off a couple days before the sale, but we plan to expect a full range of bikes from kids to adults, cruisers to tandems, mountain to road, and everything in-between. PLUS clothing and accessories, parts, wheels, tires, indoor trainers, car racks, misc. other sporting goods, heck - maybe even a vacuum cleaner or tv (it's happened before!).
Is there any warranty/guarantee on items at the swap?
Nope--as is. It is a yard sale of stuff from one owner to the next. All items are as-is. All items are sold this way and there are no returns or exchanges on items from the swap.
Will there be store specials that day?
Maybe. Generally BRC would like the focus of the day to be on the deals for the swap, but sometimes we have specific merchandise on deep discount.
What if I have more questions?
Stop by the shop or give us a call, we are always happy to chat.
FOR SELLERS
You have extra: Bike parts, bikes, multisport apparel, wheels, cycling clothing, car racks... pretty much you name it, it's been brought to a swap before.
What you do: Bring them into the store hosting the swap starting on Wednesday during business hours (please do not leave anything outdoors outside of business hours). We help you label and price them all. It helps if you have an idea of pricing but even if you don't, we can help you out. Our advice on pricing: "How will you feel if it doesn't sell?" If you would feel okay about picking the item up, price it higher. If you really just want the item gone and want some credit for it, price it accordingly. Please allow extra time for our staff to check in your items and price them BEFORE you leave the store.
What happens if my item sells? *NEW OPTION*
We sell it through our register system and choose:
- Receive 100% of the funds as a store credit in our system to use within one year.
- Receive a check back for 80% of the total amount sold. The remaining 20% will be retained to help defer event costs.
How funds are disbursed (store credit or check) must be selected at time of drop-off.
What if my item doesn't sell?
You are responsible for calling us to make sure your item was sold or not sold. We do not have the bandwidth to notify sellers about their items. You have until Tuesday at close to pick up your stuff. Items not picked up by that time will be donated to our junior cycling programs, Community Bikes, boys and girls club, etc.
Do I have to be at the sale if I'm selling something?
Nope! We take care of everything once you drop it off. Part of the idea is that the bike/item is sold anonymously for you, so no one comes back in a year wanting you to replace something or try and warranty an item that you got rid of.
Do you guys offer any type of warranty/service on items at the swap?
No. Items are sold as-is. Buyers are solely responsible for necessary repair/maintenance needed on all purchases.
